Introduction
Miao Li has worked as a patent lawyer for ENN Group and Procter & Gamble for many years, and has rich practical experience in deploying and implementing comprehensive intellectual property strategies covering the R&D project cycle. She has established a relatively perfect intellectual property management system in ENN Group from scratch. In the Procter & Gamble, she was responsible for the intellectual property affairs of the multi-billion dollar Asian fabric care division, including Tide, Bilang, Lenor and Downy. She is proficient in patent data and visual analysis, and is the co-founder of IPDataLab. She has served as the global product management head of TotalPatent One ®, a patent search database, at LexisNexis, and managed the international team, with first-hand experience of the commonality and uniqueness of national legal systems. She has rich experience in the negotiation and drafting of international contracts, and has been responsible for the negotiation and drafting of contracts for many medicine licensing transactions. Her translated and published a book titled Protecting and Enforcing Life Science Inventions in Europe: under EPC and EU Law.
Remarkable achievements
- Well understanding the differences of patent licensing requirements in major countries, Miao Li has drafted a large number of patent applications in English, and built expertise in determining an optimal global filing strategy based on technical solutions and market needs.
- Familiar with the patent examination process and response strategy of major countries, she has responded to hundreds of review comments from CNIPA, JPO, USPTO, EPO, KIPO and IPO. She has delivered several lectures on the USPTO review response strategy in many Asian countries, with topics including Leveraging Analytics in Patent Filing and Prosecution, Prosecution Effectiveness of CN Corporations before USPTO, US Patent Filing Strategy based on Examiner Profile.
- With strong expertise in patent data, search, and analytics, she delivered presentations and training sessions regarding big data, with topics including How to Overcome Variability and Unpredictability: Patent Litigation Strategies in the U.S., Practical Guidance in IP Management: from the Perspective of Patent Quality, IP Winning Tips for Technology Collaboration and Transfer.
- With rich practical experience in contract negotiation and drafting for R&D collaboration, she has engaged in the negotiation and contract writing of several drug licensing transactions. She well understands the negotiation process, term list, license conditions, payment models and other operations of drug licensing transaction, and enjoys expertise on the industry’s license benchmark.
- Provided legal opinions on the free implementation of three models of a leading Chinese automobile manufacturer exported the European Union and South America.
- Provided FTO legal opinion for the launch of a laundry unit dose product in Asia, and offered design-around suggestions.
